If you’ve been here a while, you know I overthinkeverything — paint colors, grout shades, where to hang a towel hook — but one thing I was 100% sure of during our bathroom remodel was this: I wanted a dark wood vanity with a marble top. No second-guessing, no “maybe I’ll regret it later.” I just knew. When it comes to designing a bathroom, paint colors are easy to change. Tile and furniture? Not so much. So, I wanted the foundation pieces — the bathroom vanity and the tile — to be classic, timeless, and built to age beautifully.
There’s just something about a dark walnut vanity paired with a white marble countertop that feels so elegant and grounded. It’s a look that’s both old-world and modern — rich wood tones, soft veining, and that furniture-style base that makes it look like it was always meant to be there. I’ve always loved when vanities look more like furniture pieces than built-ins, so I knew I wanted one with legs and a few special details — like turned posts, unique drawer pulls, or a marble top that felt custom.
I found so many contenders. Like, added-to-cart, measured-twice, texted-my-husband-to-confirm levels of almost. Each one had something that made me pause — some had beautiful turned legs, others had those old-world brass drawer pulls that make my heart flutter. I was dangerously close to pulling the trigger on several of them because they all had that mix of classic bathroom design and vintage furniture charm that I love. But in the end, I landed on the one that felt like it was made for our 1880s farmhouse. It checked every box: dark wood, marble top, classic silhouette. It’s the kind of piece that looks like it’s been in the house forever — but in the best, most intentional way.
So whether you’re doing a full remodel or just daydreaming about your next project, here are a few of my favorite pieces that almost made the cut. Because sometimes, the “almosts” deserve a little spotlight.
